 Thielsen- the lightning rod of the Cascades  

here's a recount of my trip to the Crater Lake region in south-central Oregon for a climb of Mt. Thielsen, one of the coolest summits you will ever see in the lower 48.

I tried to make this link hot, but just couldn't figure out how to do it despite the helpful advice of some people on this site.

That's such a great climb, looks like you had some nice weather. When we climbed it we got a good look at the inside of a cloud from the summit.

I've always wanted to do Thielsen but it's always covered in snow when I'm out there. Thanks for posting!
