 Holy Cross

My friend and I climbed Holy Cross the other day, overall the conditions were perfect. We reached the trailhead around 7am, to our surprise the parking lot was packed. The first quarter mile was pretty muddy but as the trail became more exposed it hardened up. The trail was well defined and easy to follow. Unfortunately there was a new fire burning in Eagle so there was a layer of smoke that killed some of the more distant views and added a smokey sent to the air. As we expected from looking at the parking lot, the trail was packed with hikers and campers. There was very little snow on the mountain so we had no problems along the trail. On the summit there were tons of bugs, probably due to the lack of wind, so bug spray might not be a bad idea if it is a calm day. It was good that we started early because it started to sprinkle as we finished the decent to our car. It was a great climb and I definitely intend to do it again.
