Peak: Mt. Sneffels
Route: SW Ridge

Every year a group from our office does a trip "out west" to climb 14ers. Last year we did Redcloud, Sunshine, and Handies. This year Chaos and myself split off from the group on the FIRST day to check out Mt. Sneffels, an iconic San Juan peak that we hadn't been to yet. Looking at the route Beta, it was obvious to us that the SW ridge was the route for us, providing a chance for us to further improve our class 3 climbing and route-finding skills.

Ouray Beta:
Ate at Ouray Cafe, had the Western Buffalo Burger. It was very tasty and juicy. 3rd floor balcony has possibly the best view in the city! A little pricey but the brown ale I had was decent. 4/5

Bien Tiempo: I had chicken, spinach, and blue corn tortilla enchiladas with some house made beans and rice. House salsa was very nice. I preferred the red sauce to the green, nice flavor with a little heat. They had a small but premium beer selection on tap, very clean and spacious, with good service. Portion was a little small, but thoroughly enjoyed going there for lunch. 4.5/5

Timberline Deli: Looks like a hole in the wall, but the sandwich was very tasty with the Boar's Head meat. I had a "club" sammich on wheat.

The SW ridge proved to be fun and challenging, one of my favorite routes to date. I was unsure before we set out but I was convinced by the time we hit the summit. From this vantage you have outstanding views of Dallas Peak, Gilpin Peak, the Teakettle, and many more interesting and dramatic peaks. If you haven't done Sneffels yet, you need to check this out.
