A dry Memorial Day on Sneffels

I decided to take advantage of the minimal snow this year. Usually when I'm in Ouray on Memorial Day I can't get anywhere near Sneffels due to snow, this year the road was clear to within 3/4 of a mile of the upper trailhead.

The short story is that there is minimal snow left. The trail is almost totally dry but the last 500 vertical feet are mostly on snow. I'd still recommend crampons and ice axe for this route. Give it a couple of weeks and the route will likely be dry all the way to the summit.

The longer version can be found here: Full Trip Report.

I talked to the skiers up top and they were descending down the north side. The dropped in above the V Notch I believe.

That makes sense. Did they come up over Blue Lakes Pass?

Were you in the group with Jasayrevt? I tried to join them, but there was no way I could get my Honda Odyssey up that road without doing some damage.
