Late spring tramp up the Bierstadt

We made a quick jaunt up the ol' Bierstadt last weekend to assess peak snow conditions for some of the other hikes we have been looking at for next weekend. The road was clear to the TH, the trail was mostly frozen as we departed, but very very muddy on the return. We started to encounter snow and ice about 1/3 of the way up the ascent. The final push was snow covered, but plenty of exposed boulders to grab on to. The snow was fully consolidated and provided excellent footing with a quick kick step. Twas a grand day out!
