Lindsey - don't miss that gully!

If I could offer one word of advice of climbing Lindsey, it's don't miss that darn gully!

Turbo and I left the Dino lots at 9:30am Sunday morning, getting to the TH around 1pm. Fortunately we were able to get within 1.8mi of the summer TH and parked there.

We decided to strap on the skis and skin up. In the end, the coverage was light, but it was skiable for most of the approach.Image

Arriving at our hillside camp just after dark, we created a makeshift platform, ate early, and crashed early to prep for the morning.

We got up at 6:30 on Monday and started up quickly, leaving our camp intact. By now, we realized that we had completely missed the gully on the way up and were high in the screes fields, and we could see the simple approach via the gully down below...major bummer. But we decided to keep traversing, stay high, and hit the saddle. After getting the east side of the saddle the winds subsided and we had some fun climbing!

I was surprised to not hear of Lindsey before. It's a beautiful route and stunning scenery in the Sangres as usual!

Unfortunately, they wasn't near enough snow, so no ski descent. Next time!

Nice work on what looks like a moody day.

Would it be possible to post a map of your route? I'm not sure I understand where you missed a gully and how it was regained.

Thanks for posting!
