I've said this before but I will say it again...

The basin is gorgeous. Half Moon Creek is wonderful. The trail is in great condition. And the views from Massive are really spectacular. The trail is definitely steep in places and is always going up but it is soooo worth it if you can get back to the N. Half Moon Creek trail head.

Our day started off rainy. We hit the trail at 8:23am and had a bunch of mist and itty-bitty stinging rain for most of the ascent. The clouds came in the valley and up the basin and were moving quick. We hit the summit at 10:50 and visibility was about 30 feet and the wind was blowing pretty steady so the temp was cold. At first we weren't even sure we were at the summit it was such poor visibility.

We stayed only about 20 minutes before starting the descent. Not even did we hit the false summit when suddenly the clouds blew out and the sun lit up the basin. Really spectacular.

2hrs 30mins up, 2 hours down. A great moderate trail. Lots of "staircases" and never did I feel like I was struggling for footing on loose gravel didn't use my hands at all on the ascent and very little on the descent.

Road past the standard route trail head was in good condition. there were 2 or 3 places we were happy we had the 4WD but for the most part it was an easy drive.
