Traverse from Blanca to Ellingwood, No Bear (yet)

We created more of a slideshow for this TR for family/friends. You are welcome to browse.

Overall info for 14ers crowd... prepare your plan of attack up Como Lake Road. We did take our ATV up with about 2.4 miles left up the jagged road to walk. We would have just stashed the ATV and hiked up on Wed to set up camp at the lake, but with all the reports of the bears ravaging campsites (even those with food stored up high and none in their tents), we decided it best to camp a little low.
*** Hiking the road in the heat is brutal. Hike it in the a.m. or later at night when it cools.

As for Blanca- we did lose the trail once on the loose boulders/scree. We ended up staying to the right of the ridge too long. This inevitably ended up putting us in steeper, loose rock but we managed to gain the ridge and summit with no real issues.

The traverse was sturdy rock and for the most part easy enough to follow. I would recommend this course. It did not seem class 3 in our books.

Ellingwood Point was a bit more obvious to gain.

Overall, a fantastic day in the Sangres!!!

Enjoy the photos.
