 Mt. Sherman from Leadville CR2

What a beautiful day. It looked like rain was coming, but the weather held out and over 50 people summited today. I was one of 10 or so coming from the Leadville side- I must say, the wildflowers are in full bloom and the entire hike was spectacular. The wildflowers looked their best on the ascent, as it wasn't too warm yet; on the way down, many flowers had begun to close. Note: Wildflowers are beautiful...NOW!

A couple notes about the hike: For those who have yet to summit Mt Sherman, there is a lot of loose rock and shale, which didn't seem like such a problem ascending, but on the descent it was a little tricky. Also, keep an eye out on the above side walls until you get to a ridge line- there were a couple Bighorn Sheep traversing directly above us. There is no longer any snow on the Leadville side, although if planning to hike the Fairplay side, there are two or three large patches to cross at the ridge line- hike early.

Beautiful day. Wonderful hike. Spectacular Wildflowers.
