I had wanted to climb this group of peaks for quite some time, so a bluebird day meant I would drive down to the Sangres with Ben G to climb some peaks.
We started up Spread Eagle Peak by climbing the east ridge as described on this site. Just above Treeline we saw the first of many herds of elk on this day. Other than being short and steep Spread Eagle poses no problems.

"Peak of the Clouds" was next, from Spread Eagle it is a short ridge which poses no difficulties other than one class 2+ move. The descent of "Peak of the Clouds" was the most fun of the day. I'm sure a class 2+ or 3 way could be found, but what would the fun be in that. We chose to follow the ridge direct as much as possible, there are a couple of mini knife edges and lots of ledges, all of it on solid rock. After the saddle it is a short quick ascent to "Silver Peak".
Spread Eagle
There are no major difficulties from "Silver" to Marcy. On Marcy I wrote an ode to Tyler's (tdawg) goat who after our trip last week to the San Juans last week died, the goat's name was Marcy. We were feeling good and were ready for more, so we climbed Gibbs Peak. It is a lot longer than it looks with a couple bumps to navigate around on the ridge. On the summit of Gibbs we discussed climbing de Anza and Electric, we decided that since we had plans on the next day we would leave those for another day.
Our descent took us back over Marcy and nearly to the saddle with "Silver" we descended down the grassy slopes to the cliff band where we found a class 4 weakness and climbed down, for the most part the rock was solid. The bigger issue was thistles which seemed to grow right where all the handholds were. After the cliff band it was a quick willow bash back to Lake of the Clouds and the long slow hike out to the car.
