 Tackled the Shermanator!

I left Denver around 5:30 am yesterday morning and arrived at the Fourmile Creek trailhead for Mt Sherman around 7:40am. 470w to 285 towards Fairplay. Once you reach Fairplay, go about one more mile and turn right on County Road 18. Take 18 (becomes a dirt road) all the way until the gate and park (I'm assuming it's a little different situation in the winter)...The 10 mile dirt road in wasn't too bad, but I was in a truck, some smaller sedans didn't drive all the way up to the gate. There were about 10 or so cars lined up at that point in the morning.

I started my ascent at 7:50am and was at the summit of Mt Sherman in 1hr and 49 minutes.. my GPS unit said I had only gone 2.35 miles - when all the reports I had read said it was 5.25 miles roundtrip, mine was only 4.7mi.. don't know if that is because of my gps unit or where others started out, but that's what it said.

It was a gorgeous day, a few clouds in the distance, nothing threatening. The hike was very simple and straight forward and perfect for someone who has never tackled a 14er before. A little windy up top, which is to be expected, I never even put on gloves. It took me about 1hr and 3 minutes to get back down (I did tend to run a little bit) This was my 2nd this season and my 5th overall!

Yup, I was up there yesterday as well and it was very straightforward. The last bit of the drive to the TH was slightly sketchy, but my 2wd 2001 honda accord made it up to the top without very much trouble.
