On 9/4/08 the trailhead is in good condition. There are a couple of wet areas on the shelf road on the south side of Sunshine at about mile 13 or so, but nothing that requires 4WD. There are several rough spots that will require some careful negotiating in lower clearance vehicles. Trucks and high clearance vehicles will have not trouble at all. Take it slow on the shelf road especially!! Lots of sharp curves and there was a little tourist traffic on the road when we were there.
