The road to the upper trailhead is still rough. Lots of potholes, rocks, and dips. My Jeep Liberty didn‘t have any problems in 4x4 but I wouldn‘t take a low clearance vehicle up that road. I saw a number of cars parked along the side of the road about halfway between the lower and upper trailheads.
