Signs are posted on the road leading to the trailhead stating that it is not maintained in winter. Found that to be true but was able to make it in a Subaru within about three and a half miles of the summer trailhead. That made for slightly more than a 10 mile round trip with not a soul in sight. Not many have been on this route recently so snow shoes are recommended though not needed much until you leave the road.

Was the road completely covered with snow from where you started? I'm curious to know if it has enough snow to ride a snowmobile to Leavick.
Thanks!

There were snowmobile tracks, so, yes, I do believe there would be enough from where I started hiking. There certainly are places you'd have to be careful, but I would say it was 90-95% covered from there and pretty easy to avoid dry patches.

You mentioned that you made it in a Subaru to within 5 miles of the summit; how was the last part of the road in terms of driving? Also, approximately what elevation did you start from? Thanks!

The last mile or two had some drifts I wouldn't try to drive through with a standard clearance vehicle, but there were tracks from previous vehicles that helped. I did feel like I needed to plow through with some speed in a couple of cases to ensure I didn't get stuck. You could avoid this by adding a few additional miles to your hike. My GPS app says I started at about 10,900.

Just wondering if the upper sections are easily skiable?

I'm not one to ask. The area you climb is pretty windswept in a lot of places so there are many patches of exposed rocks but perhaps enough to ski safely in sections as well(?). Here are a couple of photos to give you the idea.
