Got Capitol yesterday in pretty good conditions. As expected, it was the sketchiest thing I've done, I wouldn't have figured out how to get up that ridge without my hero Screesurfer leading the way. I went up on Tuesday and put in a trench to Moon Lake. Screesurfer, McQueen and I started around midnight Thursday night, Brad had the same feeling I did last year after seeing Capitol from K2 and turned back. Long, hard day, 10:37 up, 7:23 down.

So happy you and John were able to summit, and thanks for putting in the entire trench! Man you are strong. I felt awfully ordinary being the only non-super-powered human on the mountain yesterday.

Whoa, that must've been a hell of a trip! And definitely a hell of an accomplishment!

Do you mind writing a trip report or something to document your logistics, please? I think it would be very useful.

Looks like late fall conditions. Probably the easiest Cap summit for Balciar. It was so warm in town too, everything was melting, felt like spring!

Thanks all, it was a good day, was incredibly fortunate to have Brad change plans, and Screesurfer come with, I cant believe hes now done Cap *3 times* in winter, and a few more in winter conditions.

Ben/Amy/Geckser/Steve-you guys are the real heroes, Im not even the farm league with you pros.

Shapovalovm- Ill probably write a trip report, but didnt take as many pictures as usual, from K2 on I was trying not to get distracted, and also trying not to lag too far behind John. The short version is that I had a 30m rope in my bag, but never pulled it out.

Jenn-thanks

Backcountrybrodes- I need N Maroon to finish the winter list

JanVan- thanks, photography is what got me into this

Corey-youre my hero! You and Balciar are the fastest humans Ive ever hiked with!

Schralp-had no idea what it was gonna look like up there, but I was optimistic after seeing how much less snow was at the trailhead vs last year around the same time. Definitely got lucky with less snow, and weather was great too, wind was pretty cooperative.

Hare- thanks, wish Id started doing this when I was young like you!

Very impressive one day climb in winter. Brad - thanks for the invitation. At my age (69 in January) I am no longer interested in doing 18 hour marathon days in the winter. Much prefer camping out and making the trip a mulit - day event. Looking forward to climbing some 14ers this winter with you and your friends.

Will you are such a beast! I am always stunned by your winter adventures.

@SnowAlien, stay coping. It is a little thin but that often makes the scrambling harder. No need to be jealous weirdo.
