Ran Uncompahgre from Matterhorn Creek on Sunday 6/23/13. The trail is in pristine condition and you'll only cross a few small snow patches enroute to the peak, nothing more than 10-15ft across. The trail is mostly dry with a few marshy sections.

Timely info. Thanks for the post. Coming from the Unc side (i.e. descending the scree) is it clear *which* trail to take West to Matterhorn? I mean, I realize that Matterhorn is an obvious landmark, but to the extent we can follow an established trail to minimize impact on the tundra, I'd prefer to do so.

Uncomp to Matterhorn

There is no snow coming from Uncompahgre to Matterhorn, but I'd avoid the scree and use the trails. The shortcut down from Uncomp is steep and incredibly loose talus. The trail that circles around is very nice though with no snow on it. If you take the high ”Ridge Stock” trail over to Matterhorn it'll lead you straight to the saddle just below the peak, very straight forward to head up Matterhorn from there. Look at the maps and you should find all this info.
