Good trail through the trees. Microspikes could be useful. however none of our group wore them. Snowshoes are mandatory past 11am from treeline up to the summit. Our group was running late(started at 8am) so we wore our shoes pretty much the whole way. There were plenty of people in front of us (descending at 9-10a) in just spikes. Things got super slushy around 1pm(yeah, we were taking our time - it was a gorgeous day and my girlfriend's first 14er).

It's gonna be a little bit before this route dries out. Spikes might be a mandatory piece of gear on the East Ridge for a few weeks.

To your girlfriend on her 1st 14er. Sorry, we missed you up there. Ended up rescheduling to Sunday as my partner hadn't ever climbed snow before and wanted to shop for crampons Saturday. Sounds like the whole weekend was gorgeous up there. We were first on summit and I'm pretty positive I saw your shoe tracks on top. Did you climb up on top of the pointy drift up top for the summit 'highpoint'?

Looks like Team Pete missed an impromptu reunion this weekend. I summitted on Sunday with two flatlanders for their first 14er. We got a very late start, even though we were staying in a house only 5 miles from the trailhead. We only had boots, but it worked. We were far and away the last people to summit and felt like trash collectors on the way down. Booty included... one microspike (black), a fleece jacket and a working cell phone. Left the gear items with the pile of other clothes at the winter lot and think I've located the cell phone owner.

Would have been funny. We were first and only two on summit at around 7am. Had it to ourselves the entire time until we began our glissade/downclimb around 7:20(ish). As far as booty goes, I only found a plastic grocery bag floundering down by the dam.

congrats on summit Bill!
