Climbed Elbert today via East Ridge. Was able to ski most of the way up (except through the rocks on the ridge above treeline), and most of the way down (skirted around the South side of the rocks). There are a couple dry patches on the Colorado Trail, and the switchbacks are mostly dry. Snow definitely softened up (as expected in spring) in the afternoon, snowshoes were definitely nice on the way down.

Were you in a group of three?

Were you one of the three skiers I saw when I got to the summit yesterday? Great day to be out there!

Yeah, it was a beautiful day (at least above treeline, below was kind of a postholey mess anywhere that wasn't exactly on the packed trail). Yeah, we were wondering who all would be there from 14ers, but didn't feel like crashing the party :-)

Postholes indeed!

I had to hand dig out my board a few times down in the trees. That definitely didn't ruin the best back-country snowboarding I've ever had though!
