Stayed at the aframe on 2-16, summited on 2-17. Trail is mostly bare to ankle deep snow, and the trail is now broken to the summit. Microspikes mandatory due to icy sections especially around barr camp, snow shoes are unnecessary. there is water available at bar camp, but all other water sources are frozen. there are no tracks leading out to the bottomless pit area.

I think I met you and your friend back at the trail-head yesterday! Were you the two guys changing out your shoes and gear back at your car when we chatted (we were looking for our car keys!!)? Congrats on the summit!

Thanks for finding my friend's sunglasses! We were a little distracted, losing sunglasses and keys!! We hike Barr Trail a lot, so hope to see you again on the trail!

I'm glad they were your friends glasses. i was just going to leave them at the trailhead in the hopes that they'd get back to the right owner. We probably wont be back to pikes for awhile, but it was definitely a fun trip.
