Bluebird conditions climbing up to tree line. Microspikes helped on the packed snow. Got up to like 12.5k feet and decided it was too dangerous to keep going due to high winds. Had to be 40+ mph and was only getting stronger as you go further up. Could barely walk forward. Mother nature did not want the summit to happen.

Sorry you didn't make it! I attempted Elbert this morning but got turned around in Silverthorne lol. Weather forecast showed snow stopping early AM but it was coming down hard at 6am and I only had 50yd visibility at times on I-70. Ended up chilling in a gas station parking lot for a while and by the time the snow settled down and there was even some blue sky it was too late to try and get to the mountain. Good chance I would have ended up in the same boat as you anyway, wind forecast was showing 45 at the summit. Ended up just going home and doing roughly and Elbert's worth of laps on Mt Morrison instead. Might try again early next week but of course there will be a ton of new snow making it more difficult.
