|Peak:||Uncompahgre Peak (14er)|
|Route:||South Ridge from Nellie Creek|
|Date of Info:||05/25/2012|
We did both Wetterhorn and Uncompahgre from Matterhorn Creek. There is very little snow anywhere, and the peak is essentially in Summer conditions. The upper slopes of Uncompahgre were almost all dry, including all of the gullies off the West face.
If attempting both peaks, there are a number of snow fields to cross on the pass, but they were easy traversed in the morning, and we only had minor post-holing issues later in the day. Absolutely no need for axes, snowshoes, or any snow gear.
Pics below, I will put up a TR in the coming days.
