Yesterday, I hiked with my friend Mt Humboldt from the East Ridge. We drove and parked at the winter closure. Beyond this point is impossible to drive, don't even try. We got to the summer trail head without problems, snowshoes will be helpful for traction.

From the summer trail head to above tree line is a different history. Looks like not body was there for almost a month. I broke trail from summer trail head through tree line. For the first mile the snow was 1-2 feet deep, the last 1 mile and the steepest section of the ridge before tree line was 2-5 feet deep. We got at 11.600 feet around 11am, I now it will take another 3-4 hs to summit. I was tired and we decided to call the day at 11.600 feet, 200 feet below tree line. Now, the trail is nice and broken for the next person with Mt. Humboldt in mind.

Breaking trail up the east ridge is no joke. I did the same thing last month and broke trail to treeline. Good job getting as far as you. If you can get back down there soon that trail you worked so hard on should still be there.
