Has anyone been up Kelso Ridge on Torreys Peak recently? Looking for an update on current route conditions. Obviously it's a north-facing route so it's likely to have snow, but I am looking for current conditions reports. I have done it twice before and feel comfortable with a little snow.

Thanks!

Just did it yesterday - the CR linked above is slightly inaccurate - there's actually one tiny section of snow perhaps 20 feet in length on the far side of the Knife Edge that you have to cross, but there are enough steps kicked into it that it's a non-issue; no traction necessary.

Other than that, no snow on the route itself other than an irrelevant patch or two coming down Gray's.

So for all practical purposes, it's basically summer conditions with a tiny asterisk that will soon melt away.

I was up there with the madness crew on memorial weekend, so not super recently. It was pretty mixed. I've only ever climbed it twice and it sure felt very different this time. Not like harder or easier, just different. Good chance it's melted some for sure. Looking at your list of ascents including 47 of Torreys peak, I think it won't be a thing for you.

Thanks man. It's probably my favorite route in Colorado. I was more curious if it's back to trail runners and microspikes season yet.

It went for us in micro spikes. Crampons probably would have been over kill for sure. One of our crew was totally wearing trail runners with gaiters. As far as trail runners go, I'd be more worried about feet staying dry on the way to and from the ridge.
