Keplinger's GPX/KML Files

Post by 501to314to303 »

SteepSlabs & I are planning on attempting Long's via Keplinger's here in the next few weeks. We went up yesterday to do some beta-gathering, got bogged down pretty hard in the "heavy timber" section off trail.

I noticed when I was getting all my maps/nav together that the GPX & KML files for Keplinger's don't appear to be working. I could download the files, but mapping software doesn't recognize them when I tried to upload them (multiple apps).

Thoughts?

I've done it at least 4 times - here's the general ways I've gone:

From when you leave the trail at Sandbeach Lake until you get to the unnamed lake, it's going to be a little difficult. Eases up between the unnamed like and the start of the couloir in earnest. Careful of avy conditions as you are around the NE face of Mt. Orton - that area does slide.

Hey, thanks a lot!

Your track matches what I was seeing on the way down from our high point, looked like a slightly easier road than what we had been trying more to the north/east.

Thanks for the heads-up about Orton. My avy risk tolerance is extremely low; we're watching CAIC like a hawk.

"keplinger's files" sounds like a chapter title in Three Body Problem.
