It seems the site is not saving any progress that I make on a trip report, even when I use the 'Save' button frequently. I spent an hour working on a report yesterday and for some reason all the text and in-line photos I placed weren't saved. The photos that I added to the photo pool are still saved, but none of the text is saving. I tried refreshing the editor page several times but all progress was lost. I then started over and re-wrote a smaller portion of the report. Today, I logged in and tried to continue writing but all progress from my second attempt yesterday has been lost. No amount of refreshing is fixing the problem. In the editor mode, a single refresh also gives me the message 'Sorry, you can't upload photos' in the Photos tab. I tried signing out and back in, and restarting my internet browser (Firefox). Any ideas about what is going wrong? Do I need to write, save and publish the entire trip report in a single session, since saving doesn't seem to work anymore?
For reference, in case it helps debug, I've not had any issues with my recent trip reports, done on my desktop with Google Chrome browser. Save works just fine; coming in and out and picking up later works fine, etc

I understand the idea I am going to present is elementary, so take it with a grain of salt if you have already considered this. But sometimes the simplest answer is the right one.

I just did a report and everything worked fine, except when I started every time I tried to upload a photo, I got an error stating that it was an invalid file type. Since all my photos were .jpg I knew something else was up. I considered that maybe the report function might have a problem with photos that were texted to me because they were compressed further, but my other photos were getting the same error. Then I considered that maybe my laptop was updated in the night and needed a reboot. Ever since I was a network engineer, I have always been anal about wanting to know what updates were added to my machines before they were rebooted in case something went awry so I don't set them to automatically reboot. As it turned out, this was exactly what was up. I rebooted and trip report functionality returned.

You said you logged out. Did you reboot?

It appears to be the security used in the background to verify the author when saving the report or uploading photos. After a discussion via PMs, the author was able to edit it properly using a single browser, single tab. I'll look into making that more usable without compromising security. It sometimes gets lost (can't save, can't upload photos) if you have another tab open that's using various pages on the site where security IDs are also used. I hope that makes sense.

So, if anyone else is having similar problems, try using just a single browser tab when editing your report and avoid editing anything else in another browser/tab or device.

I can see how that could confuse the functionality of the site.

Hi Bill,

I just tried doing this with a trip report I wrote last night. I was going to finish culling for typos this morning and I ran into a few issues. I can see my text and photos I had added when I go to profiles, my trip reports. But then when I edit the report I see varying things depending on browser. When I use firefox, I go to text and photos and see nothing from what I had previously done. When i try editing with Safari (I am a mac user) the photos appear but the text is not. I tried clearing browser history and cookies and logging out of everything and then trying the one tab trick and this doesn't seem to fix the issue.

I didn't want to create a new thread just for trip report issues so I am commenting here.
