14ers.com iOS App - New Version

Post by BillMiddlebrook »

14ers.com iOS Mobile App - v2.0.8!

Just released to the app store, changes are shown in the first picture but the highlights are:
  • Changed the Map to use the Google Maps engine and added more base layers.
  • A slope angle layer from CalTopo.
  • A map compass which can be toggled on/off in Settings.
  • Alerts! that match what is shown on the website. Additionally, routes designated as snow-only routes which show a snowflake will display a winter alert as seen in the last photo below.
  • Support for iOS Dark Mode.
Next, I will be working on the same changes for the Android app and hope to get them out by mid-December. THEN, I'll add the Map Recording (tracks waypoints, gpx exporting, etc.) stuff to the iOS version, like I did in Android previously.

Let me know if you have problems with it. And if you like it, how about a good review in the App Store?

and it just keeps getting better and better . . .
funny how you did not know there was a need for an improvement until you see what has been improved.
Impressive.

Love the app!

Have you thought about adding a subtle prompt that allows people to donate? Or maybe you could offer a $1/$5/$10/month reoccurring donation option? I would love to add my support through iOS on a monthly basis. Also, other apps have a pop-up that asks if you like the app, then redirects to give a rating. I'm sure you've considered this as well, yes? Or maybe I just glossed over this when I first got the app...

Keep up the good work!

Hello

I'm not sure if this is an identified bug yet, so I figured I'd offer my comments, if applicable. I'm running iOS 15.3.1. I have the current version of the iOS application. When on the "map" tab, and after selecting a mountain, the little white "flag" marker will display, denoting the 14er name and elevation. When attempting to select the flag/14er for additional information, the app will immediately shut down/close out.

Thanks!

I see that, thanks! I’ll take a look when I return to CO.

I released a new version of the iOS app today which fixes the 14er marker problem when using the map. Thanks again for the heads-up!
