Two years ago today my brother died on Humboldt. I was just hoping that you all..his friends and comrades, might remember David for one moment today.

Thanks, and be careful out there.

Holly Newsome,
TalusMonkey's little sister

Holly,

I hope you are doing well. A friend and I were actually discussing a trip to Humboldt and the Crestones this evening, and my thoughts drifted to Talusmonkey and the positive vibes he always brought here.

Anyway, best regards and prayers.

Dave

Holly, he's definitely not forgotten. I've thought of him often, especially when I'm in the mountains.

I'm halfway through Oman's book, "Halfway to Heaven." The book is by far one of the funniest books I've ever read, but the chapter titled "The Monkey" put a lump in my throat and had me fighting back some tears. I highly recommend the read. Due on shelves May 12, I believe.

Right about now, TM's life celebration should be in full swing in Colorado Springs. I couldn't be there, but I'm raising a beer in his honor right now. To David!

I still miss seeing him on the forum. His trip reports and threads were the best. I regret never having met him, and this site has not been the same without him.
We miss you TM!!!
A Colt .45 for you: :iluvbeer:

I don't have any trouble remembering the date of David's accident. It's the same day that my son, Sage, was born. He turned 2 yesterday. Bittersweet for sure. I can only hope that one day he grows up to be cool enough to don a purple pimp suit and do a bit of Colt 45 mountaineering. :YY

R.I.P. Talus Monkey. I can't believe it's been 2 years already.

One other note, I don't think I mentioned this before but another 14ers.com member passed away October 2008. taw6644.

Andrew's Memorial.
An Eagle Scout who loved life and the outdoors. Andrew loved the mountains of West Texas and Colorado. He had already climbed nine of the 14, 000 ft. plus Peaks in Colorado and his ultimate goal was to summit them all.

I drove by Humbolt yesterday and stopped in Westcliffe on my way south to Walsenburg. My thoughts were with David. What a beautiful place. We won't ever forget David.
