Hi Forum, I'm looking for a recommendation that would allow someone training for an ultra trail run a long run, that takes 8 ish hours. Does Leadville or the Collegiates have routes that would take a while- say something 15-20 miles, or does anyone know of an option to run more than one peak in Leadville where the trail heads are in the same general location? I could do Longs but I'm going solo and am not sure I want the exposure. So basically looking for a long day!

Twin Lakes to Winfield via Hope Pass is a good one. It's around 20 miles and 3400ft gain on the way to Winfield and 3000ft gain (approx) on the way back. Tops out at 12,600ft. It's part of the CT/CDT and Leadville 100 course. Just curious, what race are you training for?

Anywhere the Colorado Trail and Colorado Divide Trail crosses a highway might be good place to start. These two trails are pretty clearly marked and occasionally summit 14ers. I know there are intersections and parking at Kenosha Pass, Leadville, Cottonwood Pass.

A little further from Leadville, but Belford/Oxford/Missouri is a good long day with 3 summits (plus the obligatory return over Belford).
My remembrance of the trails to those summits are that they are somewhat runnable, with the exception of the last 1/2 mile on Missouri.
Roach has it at 15 miles & 7400 feet.
