So sorry to hear such tragic news.
If he was trying to stay ridge proper up at the Organ Pipes themselves then the exposure is extreme up there, but even when following the standard route description that passes well under the Organ Pipes, there are some spots where you can't afford to stumble at the wrong time.

Thank you all very much for the kind words. His quest to finish the 14ers was a tremendous source of motivation and fulfillment for John since I climbed Handies Peak with him in September 2022 as his first. El Diente was 42 for him, and Wilson would have been 43. Here is his checklist for anyone curious. Maybe Bill has the ability to add the El Diente summit he earned.

Obviously, we don’t have any exact details of how or precisely where he fell, but if any details come to light that show any clear lessons to be learned, I will be sure to share if his family is okay with it. I know that no matter what happened, he would want others to be able to learn and be safer because of it.

El Diente / Wilson traverse is a special place. Had the good fortune of completing it in 2022.
