Well, proud to say that I finally got to stick a knife in this 14er project, it's been a long time (16 years) coming. What started as a chance to climb 4 peaks in a day, the year after I bombed @ the Leadville 100, due to a bout with pneumonia, back in 2009 with my daughter (successful, dark-thirty to dark-thirty, eventually got legs in 2016-17-18 & 19, where I had one special day on LB that is etched in memory. Having got nailed by a rockfall in the hourglass (then summited somehow), as I wandered down below the lake these two gentlemen (saviors!) asked if they could look at my legs (I was hiding them behind a bush). They proceeded to doctor me up (they were in fact Doctors!), hydrate & feed me, before sending me down the road! Only in Colorado!
Covid put a dent in my plans, so it was stay local & learn to ride dirt bikes in my mid-sixties, not the best idea, ha! Then in 2024, it was back in the saddle, climbing the needle & the bells. 2025 was time to mop ups some of the outliners, Culebra, Holy, Castle & Pyramid. This summer, down to the last four, with the finale on Capitol Peak on July 6, 2026.
Thank you's to 14er's.com, the trail angels (you know who you are) and to all the wonderful people I have encountered along the journey, love Colorado!

Re: DVW finishes the 14er's
Congratulations on completing the Colorado 14ers, Dave! Any plans to tackle the California 14ers, some of which I know are harder than the Colorado 14ers? Or will it be more dirt biking instead?

Congratulations on sticking with it through the challenges!
Always inspiring to see folks finish out the list even as they start getting up there in years - gives me hope that I'll be able to keep at it for a good number of years as well!

Nice work on completing the Colorado 14ers. Definitely a super fun project.
Consecutive months with at least one 13er or 14er: 100 months.
