Seasonal Openings Status Update

Post by Chicago Transplant »

Just copied/pasted this one from CDOT (https://www.cotrip.org/home) a few minutes ago to help with your weekend planning (UPDATED 5/26 AM):
Seasonal Closures | Projected Road Openings
The following roadways are the estimated seasonal openings:

US 34/Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park reported as OPEN contact 970-586-1222 for status
CO 82/Independence Pass is OPEN (no vehicles over 35 feet in length)
CO 5/Mount Evans is OPEN.
Cottonwood Pass/Chaffee Couty Road 306/FR 209 west of Buena Vista reported as OPEN
Guanella Pass/Clear Creek Road 381/Park County Road 62 is OPEN.
Kebler Pass/Gunnison County Road 12 remains closed with no projected date per Gunnison County
Also note that 550 (Red Mtn Pass) is closed from 8.30am to 1.30pm on SAT 5/27 for the Iron Horse Bike Race. Plan accordingly!

And CO 133 from Bowie to Somerset is still closed for the washout (has been since 5/2), this is west of the Kebler turnoff and east of Paonia

Also the US 50 construction between Gunnison and Montrose is still ongoing. Not sure what their schedule is for the holiday weekend.

I thought they were supposed to be done with the full overnight closures by now, but they are not.

Clear Creek County needs to update their website to match CDOT on Guanella, right now it reads like Schrodinger's Pass

Guanella, Cottonwood, Evans and Trail Ridge were all showing open on 5/26 (in addition to Indy on 5/25) when I looked at CDOT this morning.

Right, I saw that on CDOT too.

Just looked like someone updated Clear Creek County's website on Guanella today as well but only partially so it reads confusingly as "Closed for Winter/Open"

FYI, Kebler is closed. During plowing they uncovered a damaged section that requires repair. Please don't ignore the closure signage and barricades like the semi in the article
