Re: Snow this Winter in the West
Does anyone know what the watershed of the Wasatch is? I presume anything draining out of the east side finds its way down to the Colorado River eventually, somehow. Probably the west side drains into the Great Salt Lake, I'm wondering if that is a dead end for any runoff, or does it eventually find its way south, also to the Colorado?

Four rivers (all from Wasatch watersheds) feed into the Great Salt Lake: Jordan, Bear, Weber, Ogden. Evaporation is the only “outlet.”pw wrote: ↑Mon Apr 03, 2023 1:50 am Does anyone know what the watershed of the Wasatch is? This. Salt lakes don't have any outlet to the ocean. That's why they are salty.derekpetrie wrote: ↑Mon Apr 03, 2023 6:28 am Four rivers (all from Wasatch watersheds) feed into the Great Salt Lake: Jordan, Bear, Weber, Ogden. Evaporation is the only “outlet.”

Yep. That’s why this lake is at least 6 times saltier than the oceans. Well, might explain some of it…Scott P wrote: ↑Mon Apr 03, 2023 10:16 amThis. Salt lakes don't have any outlet to the ocean. The rest is potato chip residue, a side effect of being a neighboring state to Idaho.greenonion wrote: ↑Mon Apr 03, 2023 10:02 pmYep. That’s why this lake is at least 6 times saltier than the oceans. I don't always agree with 12ers, but I love his pithy comments.12ersRule wrote: ↑Tue Apr 04, 2023 8:13 amThe rest is potato chip residue, a side effect of being a neighboring state to Idaho.greenonion wrote: ↑Mon Apr 03, 2023 10:02 pmYep. Possibly. They’re forecast to get 15” today and tomorrow. Then there looks to be a change in the weather pattern with sunny and warmer weather for the rest of the 10-day forecast.
