Pikes Peak - One Billion Year old granite / Universe is 14 billion years old
that's some heady rock there
I feel we need more loose wacky mtn fact discussion
I was reading the CO roadside geology book - it said that Pettingell Peak was the only peak to break above the glacial layers last Ice Age?
and did you know about the Piedmont ? Were you calling it that?

We're fortunate to have access to the mountains of Colorado. They're not to be taken for granite.jibler wrote: ↑Tue Oct 04, 2022 8:30 pm that's some heady rock there

As I recall from geology class, Australia has some rocks that are about as old as the Earth, some 3.8 billion years old. There are rocks in Canada that are over 4 billion years old.
