Ouray Ice Park

Post by osprey »

A huge boulder has fallen and destroyed the metal walkway accessing the Schoolroom area.
It also ripped out the penstock and pipeline carrying water to the hydropower plant and to the farmed ice routes.

Dang. Thanks for the info. I hope no one was hurt.
I'm old, slow and fat. Unfortunately, those are my good qualities.

Durango paper says it happened at night, so no one was in there. Could have been a disaster if it were during the day.
But it's still an unfortunate disaster, because the cost to replace will be huge.
The park is still accessible, including School Room, but I wonder if they'll remain open thru the rest of the season. They were set to close on Sunday.
