Alphabetically ....

Alice in Chains
Pink Floyd
Slipknot
Soundgarden
Wu-Tang Clan

I typically have a top 7, and I add Johnny Cash and Fleetwood Mac to that list. Too many honorable mentions: CCR, Too $hort, Daft Punk, RATM, Geto Boys, Nirvana, etc.

some of us Deadheads should get together and have a Grateful summit.

I'm not the least bit surprised that so many Colorado outdoor enthusiasts also have great taste in music.

So much ^this. I'll bring tie-dye for everyone!

I summited Belford the morning of night 1 in Boulder back in July. Fantastic decision.
awesome. I skipped Boulder this year for a San Juans trip :-k

my "heady/mountaineering" accomplishment is 2016 String Cheese Incident at Red Rocks -- organized a group of work friends to tailgate, see the show, then drive to Fourmile Creek TH, hike up Sherman in the dark and wait for sunrise. I think there were 12 of us at the tailgate, 9 went into the show and 14 of us summitted together.

There was a group hike to (Ship of) Fools Peak years back. I lived in Durango then, couldn't make it.
Why not have another? There have been a few music-related get-togethers planned in the past, but none I remember came to fruition besides the one above.

1. Grace Potter
2. Lake Street Dive
3. Simon and Garfunkel

beyond that, tough to list favorites, but I enjoy other bands with that general sound, stuff like Glass Animals and Alt J, positive uptempo EDM, popular 70s and 80s rock, non-Phish jam bands. As a 90s child, I do have a soft spot for shitty pop. Having musically inclined parents, I also enjoy classical music and jazz.
Edit: have also been known to partake in some barefoot bluegrass dirt stompin.

"I get scared sometimes—lots of times—but it's not bad. You know? I feel close to myself. When I'm out there at night, I feel close to my own body, I can feel my blood moving, my skin and my fingernails, everything, it's like I'm full of electricity and I'm glowing in the dark—I'm on fire almost—I'm burning away into nothing—but it doesn't matter because I know exactly who I am." from The Things They Carried

Not sure if indie folk is up your alley, but I've been partial to the Cavaliers' Maritimes EP (2011) for a long time.

Alternatively, perhaps Stars' I Died so I Could Haunt You (2010)?

Or Barr Brothers' Beggar in the Morning (2010)?

Or if you need something harder, Death From Above's Freeze Me (2017)?

Thanks Easyridertime, I checked out the 3 tunes. (couldn't find Maritimes) on Spotify. I really liked "Beggar in the morning" and "Freeze me". "I died so I could haunt you" didn't catch me on the first listen.

Derekesque - The Mountain. Nice motivational gym tune!
