Hi All. I'm new to these forums, I read about it in the book Colorado 14er Disasters: Victims of the Game. I'm a CO native and have hiked a number of 14ers, most recently Long's.
I am an instructional designer and am building an interactive project. The topic that floated up to me when formulating the project was 14ers planning, danger, disaster and rescue.
I'm putting some serious thought into what is going to be presented in this project. The format is going to be an interactive story, like a choose your own adventure. What you choose will determine how you fare in the story.
I've never had to be rescued, but I've made plenty of dumb mistakes, and heard some pretty crazy tales from my brother, who is on SAR in San Miguel County. But, to get a super great cross section about the situations, emotions, decisions etc that people experience to give the project as broad an appeal as possible, I''m looking to interview anyone who is willing to talk about their own experience about being rescued, or other tales of how a super tough situation occurred and shook out.
Ideally what I'd ask for is a 1/2 hour to 45 minute call. In terms of informing this project, anything you care to share would remain anonymous - but help the final project be "based on a true story" or based on true stories. Kind of like the movie Midway... no way did all that stuff happen to one guy, but overall you get a really good picture of what happens.
If you are interested, please PM me. Thank you and looking forward to participating in these forums.

Yep one of the best to ask on the topic. I would also throw out Caroline Moore aka USAKeller as a good one to talk to.justiner wrote: ↑Wed Nov 18, 2020 11:26 am I bet Brad McQueen can help ya.

Re: Looking for interviewees
while i cannot contribute a story, i can tell you about some excellent ones i've been inspired by--
alyson kirk survived an incredible rescue on rosalie, which prakash was kind enough to document in 2011. i don't believe she has a 14ers.com account, but her husband john checks in here from time to time (jkirk). you can read the trip report here/summitpost: https://www.14ers.com/php14ers/tripreport.php?trip=9635
ryan montoya (montoyaman) wrote an amazing trip report from 2017 about an accident on pyramid that you can read here: https://14ers.com/php14ers/tripreport.php?trip=17700
good luck with your project!

Here is an accident and rescue from the 13er Lenawee that might be of interest (I don't know if you specifically want it to be a 14er or if other alpine peaks are ok for your project).

Thanks, all, for your great ideas and resources.
When the project is done, I'll post a link on the forums for you to check it out (I'll ask admin first).
