On 10-11-11, Ken Nolan became the first person to complete all of Colorado's highest 1800 peaks, finishing on Tater Heap.

Ken has made a total of 741 14er ascents to date.

When Micah and I were descending Tabeguache with him last year, Micah asked, "So Ken, are you retired now and just climb 14ers all the time?"

Ken replied, "Well, my boss is beginning to think so."

ok, call me the big A on the site. No need to debate... Ken is rad. Nothing to take away from that.

But what is up with 1800? Is that a special mark? Is there < 2000 or even < 1900 peaks in Colorado? I have not heard of the 1800 list/milestone before. I think most experienced folks knew he is was in the lead. Just curious...

Kudos to the amazing Ken, but...

The late Bob Martin finished the highest 2000 peaks in 2001, according to this interview:

1800? 2000? Makes my goal of eventually getting the centennials seem a bit banal...amazing accomplishments by Ken and Bob

Way to go Ken. Your an awesome outdoors-man. It was a pleasure meeting you while climbing Mt. Harvard a couple years ago.

Bob actually didn't do some of the illegal ones. I think his claim is he climbed the 2000 highest legal ones!

Heck of an accomplishment any way you look at it. Way to go, Ken!
