Winter 14ers

Post by PeakSixTD » Tue Dec 15, 2020 11:38 am

I feel like I put something on here every winter, but here we go again! Prepping up for winter 14er season. Who is serious about hitting some peaks? I'm currently at 20.
Here is some of my hopeful agenda for the year:
Massive and N. Massive
Shav/Tab
Colombia via SE ridge
Missouri via West ridge
Redcloud sunshine via sunshine SE ridge
Ellingwood (already have Blanca but could possibly be talked into repeating it after we get ellingwood)
Longs
If conditions are good enough, KC and or Challenger.
Let me know if any of these sound good! I'm also open to hitting anything I havent done before, but lack overnight gear atm. Can do weekends, maybe on rare occasions with great weather I could sneak off on a weekday.

Also, I'm after people with some prior winter experience here. I've already sailed through most of the easier peaks on the list!

I have not climbed any 14ers in winter and it still amazes me people climb Longs in winter. Way to go man!

What, no winter 13ers yet? I am interested in Columbia. Let me know when you are thinking. I have several other summits in "winter-like" conditions and possess crampons, axes, winter boots, snowshoes, bivy, Garmin Mini, etc.

I always need more winter partners. I’d definitely be interested in Missouri and RC/Sunshine. Maybe Longs, depending on the route. I am also weekends only, and have winter experience/taken AIARE etc. I also like to do 13ers in the winter, if that’s your thing. Will want to social distance etc. and all that 2020 stuff.

I'll stop searching when my beacon says 2 meters.

Morbidly funny. Let’s hope we have a safe avalanche season and we keep the social distancing on top of the snow!

Interested in all the peaks you mentioned and Longs in particular, as well as 13ers. I have some experience in the snow - Quandary is my only actual winter 14er but I've done a few other easy peaks in snowy months (Elbert, Sherman, Dead Dog on Torreys, Pikes Peak, Bierstadt, Cupid / Grizzly, Pettingell). I'm also weekends only and have all the gear although the handle of my shovel is def not 6 ft.
