New Years Eve/Day sunrise summit: looking for group
Im wanting to come climb a 14er New Year’s Eve stepping off at midnight or stepping off early morning New Year’s Day to have a summit sunrise. I’ve done 6 peaks so far and am in great shape. Coming from out of state a day or so before. Any groups having something already organized and welcoming bodies would be great also!

I was thinking of doing something like this for New Years as well.
I'm slow and fat. Unfortunately, those are my good qualities.

Well, that’s a start. I have a list of the peaks I’ve bagged. I would probably suggest something class 2-3 since it will be considerable night movement but am open to suggestions. I’m coming from oklahoma so can meet in any range.

Anyone else interested in setting something up?

I think it’s an interesting idea, and just want to check you’ve considered the temperature on a peak on a winter’s night? For instance, Quandray this week is dropping below -30F 🥶 .
Does sound like an interesting plan and I don’t want to be “that guy” to ask the dumb question.
Have you any peaks in mind?

I think I'd be down for this.

I'd be down for a sunrise hike, weather pending of course. Perhaps Elbert?

You're looking at the wind chill, not temperature at -30*pbarn wrote: ↑Tue Dec 15, 2020 8:28 amI think it’s an interesting idea, and just want to check you’ve considered the temperature on a peak on a winter’s night? For instance, Quandray this week is dropping below -30F 🥶 .

Yes. I’m aware. I’m just really, really interested in the potential temperature of my body on a 14,000ft peak at midnight in winterCaptCO wrote: ↑Tue Dec 15, 2020 12:19 pmYou're looking at the wind chill, not temperature at -30*pbarn wrote: ↑Tue Dec 15, 2020 8:28 amI think it’s an interesting idea, and just want to check you’ve considered the temperature on a peak on a winter’s night? Thanks for the heads up, I’m sure weather forecast will be relied on.

You might want to fill in your peak list, so people know your experience level. Thats important to know on a winter 14er in the dark.
