a few schools of thought on this- first, try a few different brands. everyone's feet are different and every shoe/boot fits each person differently. it shouldn't be just a "these look good" or "these fit right"-- there should be like an "ah HA!" moment for your feet where you never want to remove your footwear once you put them on.

second- there's always the great boots v. trailrunner debate. once you find a brand that works for you, try oscillating between trailrunners and boots to see which one you prefer. you might be surprised!

last- you might need a stiffer insert instead of a squishier one. maybe try out some custom ones that support your feet where they need to be supported.
