My guess is it’s another one of those Domestic Housecats of American Basin.

I think I see claws which would indicate canine. Wolf? Big dog? Oversized coyote?

Got any more pictures? Looks like claws. I'm going with big dog, especially if you're on a trail.

My guess would be Great Pyrenees Sheep Dog.

I don't know where you were, but there's a lot of them in the the Park Range and Flat Tops. Also the northern Gore Range.
I'm old, slow and fat. Unfortunately, those are my good qualities.

The claws & lobes on the rear pad indicate a big dog.
