I made the decision to always pack my dog's and my poo out. I created a poop tube out of 4" pvc pipe, obviously it is super heavy, so it stays in the van for car camping. For the trail I use an old nalgene. It keeps the smell away during the hike. You don't actually go into the tube, imagine another safety/smell net for a WAG bag.

Wouldn't it be easier to just bury it under a rock rather than take the time to bag it in plastic? Why pretend like you care about the environment?

Volunteer groups could help (maybe different groups like boy/girl scouts, college organizations, etc.) where they greet hikers, offer weather forecast warnings, recommend trail routes (include emphasis on trail areas to avoid) provide mini trash sacks (poop bags) for hikers to return and dispose after hiking.
So if someone is building permanent shelters and handing out mini trash bags, that is cool. But, if I choose to do it on my own I am being pretentious, pretending to care about the environment? Give me a break, sheesh, stay in your hole in St. Louis.
:faint: Sorry greenhorn1. :faint:
Put away your popcorn Skared, but speaking of sock puppets.... :-k
