Dogs are truly amazing, in the 2 1/2 years I've had him, we've managed over 25 14ers, some repeats. But everything from running up them, to winter ascents, snowboarding descents, night summits, multiple summits in a day. Best climbing partner I've had...

Sage is 14 now...thank you Denver Dumb Friends League shelter.
32 different 14'ers.
Countless 13'ers, 12'ers and 11'ers.
Never felt comfortable taking her on C3/C4 routes.
Can't go on a hike/backpack without her.

Shasta is our 4ish year old border collie mix. She loves the mountains and has joined us for a good number of 14ers, 13ers, ski trips, etc.

Shasta particularly loves the snow. She often skis down with us, but when bored with us slow humans she adopts more inventive and entertaining methods...

Heard a dog howling and barking as I ascended from Capitol Lake yesterday. Eventually, starting up the ridge direct from the saddle between Daly and K2 I found this dog. Blocking easy passage, growling, tail between legs. Pretty sure it would have bit me if it got the chance.

Unreal. But then again, people have been known to leave babies in dumpsters.

Was that dog up there the whole day until after dark?

So they probably tied up the dog so they could climb the peak. Don't see any water for the dog there. People never cease to amaze me.

The dog was gone when I came down. Can't say how long it had been there before I came upon it.

y'all.

this seemed stupid when i thought about doing it with my dog in my head for more technical/shady segments of trail, but now that i see it, it looks even dumber.
