Bierstadt 4/24 conditions?

Post by bryandaisydog »

Hello all, I'm a newby and will be passing through next Saturday the 24th. Does anyone know the current conditions of the parking lot for bierstadt and the trail conditions? Do you think we'll be ok with just hiking boots and yak tracks? Or do we need snowshoes? Thanks I'm advance!

You'll need snowshoes. There's going to be 2 or 3 feet of new snow this week

Folks will put a trench back in pretty quickly since that trail sees so much traffic but the upper road will still be closed past the winter closure so you'll have to plan for the extra mileage. Snowshoes are a tossup this far out from your trip but with plenty of accumulation in the forecast this week there's a decent chance that micro spikes won't quite cut it.

Any ideas for some decent hikes just to see some mountains as I'm driving through on 70 West?? that wouldn't require snow shoes

Sniktau, southeast off Loveland Pass, exit 216 on I-70.
Can have freezing cold wind.
