Heard from people who went up there last Saturday that the entire Steven's Gulch road is snow covered.

Yep, road is snow covered as of last Friday. No one had gone up the road then, all cars parked at winter trailhead.

I know not the rules of the road but after skiing Lost Rat on Sunday, we came up on a Subaru Outback way up the road. By the little bridge crossing. Saw a truck stuck maybe halfway up the road. Probably turned into an ice/slush fest with the heat. Road was easily skiable with the exception of maybe 2 spots that were very thin.

Would it really be Spring without a Subaru stuck up there?

It wouldn't be spring without having a couple/few vehicles stuck on that road. It's like an annual rite.
There's a truck stuck on Kendall Mountain outside Silverton as well.

Perhaps if the stuck Subaru sees its shadow, we get a few more weeks of stuck vehicles?
