Re: Crestone Accident
After a hardcore climbing year for me, I know it doesn't take much of a mistake for this to happen on routes like these.. Damn it always sucks to hear about a fallen climber.. RIP..

Re: Crestone Accident
we saw the helicopter from BHP on Saturday at 2pm. I had just talked my son out of the traverse 2 hours earlier even though I really wanted to go. RIP

Re: Crestone Accident
So sorry to hear about this accident. My thoughts are with family and friends.
Re: Crestone Accident
Always sobering to read these accounts - the mountains have claimed both rookies and experts and everywhere in between.
I've had more than one occasion in the mountains where in the back of my mind I'm thinking 'one wrong move here and I'll be the next thread...' Or sometimes it's that one rock that comes flying down...

Re: Crestone Accident
Very sad indeed. My condolences.
Most people mention the last pitch of the Crestone traverse (up the Needle) as being scarry, but there are numerous other spots along the traverse that are airy and dangerous.
My prayers go out to Pastor Fuerst and his family.
