It's interesting in the Battleship report that both victims deployed airbags yet were still burried.

Very sad. Clearly these were not rookies making rookie mistakes. My condolences to their friends and family.

That battleship report scares me the most!
The slope had already been skied multiple times that day
It looked like they were on generally 25 degree terrain
They both had time to deploy air bags and one was still 4-6 feet deep
2 experienced backcountry skiers
Accident reports like this make me wonder how I survived my first few years of Backcountry skiing completly uneducated about avalanche terrain. Guess this report really shows the importance of evaluating overhead terrain.

Airbags don’t work so well when the whole slab comes down on you from above. Sounds like they were skinning in the runout.
