Sad news from the Canadian Rockies. Very accomplished mountaineers.

These guys were great climbers, esp David Lama, a multi-talented climber credited with the first free (or mostly free?) ascent of Cerro Torre's controversial Compressor Route. RIP to all.

East face, not impossible, but, just about the next thing to it, this time of year. Ice and boulders, when gravity calls, survival would be miraculous, to say the least.

They lived for their passion, RIP David Lama, Jess Roskelley, and Hansjorg Auer.

Awesome climbers.

I can only echo (or repost, as the case may be) Jimmy Chin's word's on the news:
“We again face the great paradox of pursuing one’s dreams in the mountains... something that gives us so much life and yet also takes life away. It never makes sense... yet we understand.”
