This is a true tragedy. Johnny was an experienced hiker / mountaineer. He was also a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer who worked on hazard mitigation on a Guatemalan Volcano.
Another amazing, kind-hearted person lost to the mountains.
Rest in Peace Johnny.

RIP Johnny. The number one thing thats scared me over the last 7 months is something happening to me and never getting a chance to meet my daughter. Thoughts go out to his wife and family

This is a horrible tragedy.
My thoughts and prayers are with his friends and family.
The shock of sudden loss is the worst.
I hope his wife has a supportive group of friends and family to help her through this.
I'm still in the muck as I'm not yet done processing Don's (PeakCowboy) accident on 9/18.
I am unable to respond to other forum topics surrounding tragic losses.
Every one is one too many.

I second this...I just went up Lindsey on Saturday. Before crossing over the ridge (before the gulley comes into view), I heard a massive rockslide. I was ready for the worst when I came over the ridge since I knew there were a couple people far enough ahead of us to already be in the gulley. Luckliy when I crested the ridge the couple were apparently above the slide when it went. It definitely sent chills down my spine though.
RIP, and my condolences to his family. As a father (as I'm sure everyone else) it breaks my heart to think about this.

I agree, I just forgot about Lindsey. The standard route is nasty.

Saw plenty of falling rocks (mostly small) today on Sneffels and only one helmet worn by any of the 12-18 people I saw. I was glad to have the helmet on.
