angel of shavano

Post by mountainute »

hey all,

has anyone done the Angel from the bottom lately/ this winter? I'm not wondering about the amount of snow in the route [that's easily visible from the road], but about the amount of deadfall/ timber in that area between where you leave the trail and before you get to the angel.
Several years ago (10 or so) that used to be a reasonable walk, but a few years ago (3 or 4) we were crawling under, climbing over deadfall all the time, splitboards on the packs getting stuck in the veg and so forth.

cheers, mountainute

I just posted a conditions report from skiing it on Saturday. I thought it was a pretty easy trail to follow. There's a few downed trees to step over/around just past the turnoff but nothing bad.
